CreativeMornings Montclair, the only New Jersey chapter of the global breakfast lecture series, hosts storytelling coach, actress and live event producer Liz Samuel on Friday morning. Samuel is the founder of Montclair Story Salon, a live storytelling series built around personal narrative and community connection, and has appeared in projects for Netflix, Apple TV, NBC and CBS. Her talk follows the global monthly theme of “Current.” Free coffee and bagels from Bagel Supreme. Doors open at 9:30; the speaker takes the stage around 10.
S.O.F.I.A. 16th Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence

S.O.F.I.A., Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates, holds its 16th annual walk at Canterbury Park on Saturday morning, raising funds for domestic violence education, prevention and community assistance. Registration is $20 for individuals and $45 for team captains; walk-up registration is welcome. Fire in the Annex at Montclair Brewery

Fire in the Annex, a New Jersey-based band fronted by vocalist Erica Taylor, plays pop and rock anthems with a hard rock edge at Montclair Brewery Saturday night. The band’s lineup includes drummer Ulises Negrete, whose credits include performances with Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead and Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones. The $5 cover goes directly to the artists.
Montclair Town-Wide Yard Sale
Sunday, September 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Town-wide | Free
The fall edition of Montclair’s town-wide yard sale takes over neighborhoods across town on Sunday, with residents setting up in driveways, garages and front yards throughout the day. Whether you’re selling or shopping, participation is free. Sellers can register and get added to the interactive map via the QR code on the event flyer; the map goes live a few days before the event and will also be posted on the organizers’ Instagram and Facebook pages at @montclairyardsale.
5th Annual Latino Heritage Celebration at the Montclair Art Museum
Sunday, September 20, noon to 5 p.m. | Montclair Art Museum, 3 South Mountain Ave. | $10 general admission, $25 family
Latinos of Montclair brings its fifth annual Latino Heritage Celebration to the Montclair Art Museum on Sunday, opening Latino Heritage Month with five hours of live music, youth performances, spoken word, a mercado with local small businesses and food vendors representing cuisines from across Latin America, and hands-on activities for all ages. The stage program runs from 2 to 3:30 p.m., hosted by returning emcees Jonathan Echeverry and Wendy Tiburcio, with the celebration continuing outdoors for a grand finale and parade at 3:30 p.m. The event also honors this year’s Futuro Young Leaders alongside local elected officials.
