What’s Happening in Montclair This Weekend: Haunted Funhouse, Montclair Flea and More

Camila Gonzalez October 21, 2026

Montclair Book Center turns into a haunted funhouse Friday night, and Saturday fills up with a flea market at Lackawanna Station, a sensory celebration at Van Vleck and a Latino storytime at The Hub. Live jazz at Bleu Coffee closes out the weekend on Sunday. Here’s what’s worth your time October 23 through 25.

Mbc’s 2026 Haunted Funhouse

Friday, October 23 to 25, 7 to 11:30 p.m. | Montclair Book Center, 221 Glenridge Ave. | Tickets on Eventbrite

The Montclair Book Center reinvents itself every year as a scare attraction, and this is the fourth. The store says it scared 834 people last year and is keeping the childhood-nightmares theme for 2026. Buying a ticket online guarantees your entry but not a time slot, so expect to wait your turn. Read the FAQs on the Book Center’s website before you buy. Refunds are available up to one day before the event.

Montclair Flea

Saturday, October 24 to 25, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Lackawanna Station, 1 Lackawanna Plaza | Check Eventbrite for admission

Lackawanna Station hosts its curated indoor market, with vendors selling art, vintage finds and handmade goods, plus food and drinks. It’s fully indoors, so rain won’t change plans. The listing says the market is open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cuentitos: A Storytime With The National Museum Of The American Latino

Saturday, October 24, 12 to 4 p.m.; storytime 1 to 2 p.m. | The Hub, 60 S. Fullerton Ave. | $5 per person; children under 3 free

Latinos of Montclair launches Cuentitos, a new storytime series bringing Latino stories and traditions to young readers and their families. The first edition features a visit from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino. At 1 p.m., two read-alouds, “Please, Pass the Tamales!” by Silvia López and “My Sister’s Quinceañera” by Delia Ruiz, are followed by book-inspired activities led by the museum’s Young Ambassador. A craft table run by Natt’s Treehouse and a children’s vendor market with byArticyn, Casa Spanglish and Insomnia Coffee Shop stay open all afternoon. Tickets are not refundable.

Sensory Celebration At Van Vleck

Saturday, October 24, 1 to 4 p.m. (rain date Sunday, October 25, same hours) | Van Vleck House & Gardens, 21 Van Vleck St. | $10 per family for members; $15 per family for the public

The Montclair Foundation invites families on a self-paced sensory exploration of the gardens, with activity stations built around art, movement, stories, planting and self-guided walks. The event is open to people of all ages and abilities, and Montclair Art Museum joins in. Most of it is outdoors, with select activities in the Education Center. Register through the Montclair Foundation.

Live Jazz At Bleu Coffee

Sunday, October 25, 1 to 4 p.m. | Bleu Coffee, 8 Erie St. | Check Eventbrite for admission

Bleu Coffee’s live jazz series returns on its every-other-Sunday schedule, with an afternoon of music and coffee.
