What’s Happening in Montclair This Weekend: Montclair Flea, Live Music and More

The weekend of August 21 opens with a yoga and art session at Brookdale Park and a Friday night rock show in West Orange, then keeps going through Sunday with the Montclair Flea at Lackawanna Station, an archery championship at Brookdale Park and, for families, The Wiggles will have a show at The Wellmont. Here’s what’s worth your time August 21 through 23.

Gutter Kings at the Shillelagh Club

Friday, August 21, 8 to 11 p.m. | The Shillelagh Club, 652 Prospect Ave., West Orange | Free, no cover

The Gutter Kings, a four-piece rock band playing classics from the 60s, 70s and 80s, take the stage Friday night at the Shillelagh Club in West Orange. The kitchen will be open for dinner before the set. Free parking, no cover.

Outdoor Yoga + Art at Brookdale Park

Saturday, August 22, 11 a.m. to noon | Brookdale Park Rose Garden, 473 Watchung Ave., Bloomfield | Tickets required, ages 18+

Mary Blackstock leads an outdoor workshop on the Montclair border of Brookdale Park Saturday morning: a beginner-friendly yoga class followed by a mini mandala art project you take home. No experience needed for either. Meet in the clearing at the bottom of the Rose Garden steps; doors open at 10:50 a.m. Bring a yoga mat and water bottle; all art materials included in the ticket price. Pre-register by August 21. 

Montclair Flea at Lackawanna Station

Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Lackawanna Station, 1 Lackawanna Plaza | Free

The Montclair Flea is back at Lackawanna Station this weekend with its usual mix of curated vendors, art, vintage finds and food trucks, fully indoors and open to all ages. A reliable Saturday or Sunday morning option for the whole family. 

NJ State JOAD Outdoor Archery Championship at Brookdale Park

Sunday, August 23, 10 a.m. | Brookdale Park Archery Field, Bellevue and Glenside Terrace | Free to watch

The New Jersey Archery Association and Bloomfield Archers host the state’s Junior Olympic Archery Development championship at Brookdale Park on Sunday, with youth competitors from novice through junior divisions shooting 72 arrows across recurve, barebow and compound categories. Registration for archers closed August 15, but the field is open for spectators. Park throughout Brookdale Park; Glenside Terrace is reserved for local residents. 

The Wiggles: Tree of Wisdom Spectacular at The Wellmont Theater

Sunday, August 23, 12 p.m. | The Wellmont Theater, 5 Seymour St. | Tickets required

The Wiggles bring their Tree of Wisdom Spectacular to The Wellmont Theater this weekend, a high-energy, all-ages concert featuring sing-along classics like “Rock-a-Bye Your Bear,” “Fruit Salad Yummy Yummy” and “Hot Potato,” alongside newer favorites. Whether it’s your child’s first Wiggles show or a family tradition, it’s one of the bigger family events to hit Montclair this summer. Tickets at The Wellmont box office.
