What’s Happening in Montclair This Weekend: Live Blues, a Ballet at Van Vleck and More

The weekend opens with a flea market in Clifton and a ballet in the gardens at Van Vleck, and closes with a blues set at Montclair Brewery. It’s a quieter weekend, but a good one. Here’s what’s worth your time September 4 through 6.

Inside the Faerie Realm at Van Vleck House & Gardens 

Saturday, September 5, 10 to 11 a.m. | Van Vleck House & Gardens, 21 Van Vleck Street | $5 per person, $20 per family

Glen Ridge nonprofit Mosaic Dance Theater Company and Magick Productions Group perform an original ballet on the terrace behind Van Vleck House on Saturday morning, featuring original music by Jehan Kamal. The Chuck Lambert Band at Montclair Brewery

Saturday, September 5, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Montclair Brewery, 101 Walnut St. | $5 cover

Local blues guitarist Chuck Lambert returns to Montclair Brewery with his full band for two hours of electric blues rooted in both its traditional forms and modern range. The rhythm section of Eddie Ellis on bass and Chip Dixon on drums anchors the set, with Kenny Tam on piano and Eric Salkin on saxophone rounding out the lineup. The $5 cover goes directly to the band. 

Jubilee Park Flea Market in Clifton

Sunday, September 6, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. | 936 Allwood Road, Clifton | Free

JC Promotions brings its Jubilee Park market to the corner of Allwood Road and Clifton Avenue in Clifton on Sunday, with a wide mix of vendors selling antiques, collectibles, vintage items, crafts, beauty products, sports collectibles, plants and everyday household goods. The market runs as a fundraiser for the Clifton Recreation Department. Weather-dependent; check JC Promotions’ website or social media before heading out.
