What’s Happening in Montclair This Weekend: Montclair Flea, a 90s Dance Party and More

The Montclair Flea is back at Lackawanna Station this weekend, and it’s bringing some World Cup energy with it. Beyond that, there’s a jazz fusion show at Montclair Brewery, an all-90s dance party at Porta and an archery competition at Brookdale Park. Here’s what’s worth your time June 26 through 28.

SHOOP! 90s Party at Porta Montclair

Friday, June 26, 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. | Porta Montclair, 499 Bloomfield Ave. | Tickets on Eventbrite

If you want to kick the weekend off early, Porta is throwing an all-90s dance party Friday night with DJs Neil Armstrong and Cher La Luna, plus live painting by Esoteric Urbanism. It runs until 1:30 a.m. and is restricted to ages 21 and up.

Montclair Flea x Summer of Soccer

Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Lackawanna Station, 1 Lackawanna Plaza | Free

The monthly flea market returns to Lackawanna Station for a two-day run, and this time it’s sharing the building with Summer of Soccer. Expect the usual mix that makes Montclair Flea worth the trip: vintage clothing, handmade goods, jewelry, home decor and specialty food from a rotating roster of small vendors and local makers. It’s fully indoors, so the weather will not be a factor either day.

While you’re browsing, the World Cup will be playing on the big screens in the Big Room next door, part of Lackawanna’s ongoing Summer of Soccer series. No ticket needed for either event, just show up.

Garden State Comic Fest (West Orange)

Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Richard J. Codey Arena, 560 Northfield Ave., West Orange | Tickets on Eventbrite

A short drive over the Montclair line, Garden State Comic Fest takes over two ice rinks and the lobby at Codey Arena with comic artists, vendors, collectibles and cosplay. This year’s lineup includes Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and actor Amy Jo Johnson. Parking is free.

JAAK Live at Montclair Brewery

Sunday, June 28, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Montclair Brewery, 101 Walnut St. | $5 cover

For a quieter end to the weekend, JAAK, a jazz fusion band out of Hudson County, plays Montclair Brewery on Sunday evening. The five-piece group blends jazz, funk, hip-hop and R&B, with influences ranging from Miles Davis to Steely Dan. The five-dollar cover goes directly to the band.

Garden State Games Archery Competition

Sunday, June 28, 10 a.m. | Brookdale Park Archery Field, Bellevue and Glenside Terrace | Free to watch

The New Jersey Archery Association and Bloomfield Archers host this USA Archery sanctioned event at Brookdale Park, with competitors shooting across age divisions from novice to masters.
