Montclair kids and adults working through their summer reading list have a new incentive to keep at it. The Montclair Public Library and OddFellows Ice Cream Co. have launched Summer Reading Scoops: register for the library’s Summer Reading Challenge and get 20% off your order at OddFellows, all month long.
The discount runs through the entire month of August at OddFellows. Anyone signed up for the challenge qualifies, adults included, by showing proof of registration at the register.
“We are thrilled to team up with OddFellows to keep the summer reading momentum strong through August,” said Library Director Radwa Ali in a statement. “Our goal is always to foster a love of reading in our community, and partnering with a local business like this adds a fun, tasty incentive for readers of all ages!”

Turning that partnership into a free scoop takes one step. Register for the Summer Reading Challenge, keep your confirmation handy, and bring it to OddFellows through August 31, no separate sign-up needed.
The library and OddFellows are also rolling out weekly pairings that match an ice cream flavor to a book, one for adults and one for children. The library announced its first pairing on Instagram: Coffee Crunch, matched with “Legends and Lattes” by Travis Baldree for adults and “All Because of a Cup of Coffee” by Stilton Geronimo for younger readers.
How to Register for Montclair’s 2026 Summer Reading Challenge
The ice cream discount rewards registration, but the reading challenge itself carries the bigger prizes. It runs from June 29 through September 4 and is open to library card holders of all ages. Anyone who has not yet joined can register at montclairlibrary.org/src and start logging books immediately.
Prizes scale by age group, but the mechanic is the same for everyone. Log your reading in the library’s Beanstack app, and each book you finish earns you a spot in the end-of-summer grand prize drawings. Kids can win S.T.E.M. kits, while adults are eligible for a Kindle, and both groups can also land local gift cards along the way.

OddFellows Ice Cream Co. is located at 450 Bloomfield Avenue in downtown Montclair. The Montclair Public Library operates two locations: the Main Library at 50 South Fullerton Avenue, open seven days a week, and the Bellevue Avenue Branch at 185 Bellevue Avenue, open six days a week.
The library has served Montclair since 1893. In 2025 it reported 196,000 visits and more than 32,000 program participants, according to library figures.
