Montclair Honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. With a Weekend of Service, Worship, and Community

Montclair will mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a full slate of events spanning Saturday through Monday, bringing together faith institutions, schools, civic groups, and community organizations to honor Dr. King’s legacy through reflection, service, and togetherness.

From pancake breakfasts and scholarship programs to sermons and student-led service projects, this year’s observances emphasize the values Dr. King championed: justice, compassion, and collective responsibility.

Saturday, January 17

Brother-to-Brother Mentoring Program Annual Pancake Breakfast
The weekend begins with a community favorite hosted by the Brother-to-Brother Mentoring Program. Families and neighbors are invited to gather over breakfast in support of youth mentorship and community connection.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Annual Martin Luther King Breakfast

A cornerstone of Montclair’s MLK observances, this annual breakfast celebrates Dr. King’s commitment to education while supporting local students through scholarships.

Charles H. Bullock Elementary School Annual MLK Day of Service
Students at CHB Elementary will read Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech and participate in a service project packing meals to be donated to seniors in the community.
